Car battery chargers 12V: AGM, EFB, Start-Stop, lithium
The smart car charger is essential if your vehicle remains stationary for more than 2 weeks, especially in winter. Modern AGM and Start-Stop batteries require specific chargers with a voltage profile of 14,4-14,8 V (not the conventional 14,2 V for open lead). A 0,8-2 A charger is sufficient for maintenance (maintainer); 5-10 A for quick charging in the workshop; 30-60 A for jump-start (booster).

Your correct battery + charger
Conventional lead-acid (Pb): basic charger 14,2 V DC. AGMcharger with AGM/Spiral mode 14,4-14,7 V. EFB and Start-Stop: same voltage as AGM with micro-pulses to regenerate sulfate layer. Lithium (LiFePO4): specific charger 14,4 V max with zero current float (NOCO Genius auto detects). generics may damage lithium battery.
How to connect (safety order)
- Turn off the ignition + remove the key from the vehicle.
- Connect the red (+) cable from the charger to the positive terminal of the battery.
- Connect black (-) cable from the charger to the chassis ground point (NEVER to the negative terminal if the battery is installed in a modern car with BMS system).
- Plug 230 V. Select mode (auto recommended).
- When finished: disconnect black first, then red. Close terminal covers.
