Road emergency: triangles, V16, kits, fire extinguisher
The mandatory Spanish regulation as of July 1, 2026, replaces the emergency triangles for the emergency light V16 connected (Reglamento DGT published 2022). The V16 with GPS sends signal to DGT 3.0 (traffic control center) which warns other drivers before reaching your vehicle, improving safety without having to get out of the car. V16 connected vs triangle
Until July 1, 2026, you can use classic triangles (2 units) or V16 interchangeably. After this date, on motorways and expressways it will be MANDATORY V16 connected with DGT 3.0 geolocation. Purchase only V16 with AENOR/IDIADA certification and tested connectivity (Help Flash, Goodyear V16, Osram). The user only needs to activate the V16 from inside the car, place it on the roof + emits signal + alerts DGT control center.

Fire extinguisherNot mandatory in tourist vehicles in Spain (only in buses, taxis, ambulances), but recommended 1 kg ABC powder. Reflective vests: mandatory 1 + 1 per occupant. First aid kit DIN 13164: mandatory in many EU countries (Germany, Austria) — recommended in Spain. Starting cables + clamps: winter essentials. Data compliant with DGT V16 + EU Regulation 661/2009.
