You never know what the trail may have in store for you: steep ascents and adrenaline-pumping descents, slightly muddy runs, and rugged boulders. Regardless of the characteristics of the trail and the fun it brings, the new Crossmax XL S is ready to roll. This best-in-class 29" alloy wheel features many of the proven technologies that have made Mavic a leader in MTB wheel innovation.

The rims are designed with our patented Fore technology, with a fully sealed top rim rim that does not require the use of rim tape. This saves 30 grams per wheel and avoids the difficulties of using rim tape to mount tubeless tires. We use ISM rim machining, which removes material in strategic areas of the rim to minimize weight without compromising strength. The rim features a 30mm internal width, optimized to squeeze the best performance out of any modern trail tyre, and our Black Shield technology gives them a distinctive finish that protects against scratches and abrasions.

We used 24 straight pull spokes to further fine-tune the ideal mix of lateral stiffness and vertical compliance. Infinity hubs feature a stiffer, lighter construction enhanced by the ultra-reliable ID 360 dual ratchet system for fast engagement. The wheelset is configured for Center Lock or 6-bolt disc mounts and is compatible with Shimano HG9, SRAM XD and Micro Spline freewheel freehubs. It is available in 29" only and is supplied with UST Tubeless valves, spare spokes and accessories.
