Additives

Additives for car: engine, fuel, coolant

Additives are chemical products added to oil, fuel, or coolant to improve performance, extend the lifespan of components, or clean deposits. They are not miraculous: an engine with mechanical problems will not be cured with an additive. However, they are useful for preventive maintenance and cleaning of injectors, EGR valves, FAP/DPF, and the fuel circuit.

  • Liqui Moly — Leading German manufacturer. Top three references: Diesel Purge (diesel injector cleaner), Pro-Line Engine Flush (engine interior cleaning before oil change) Cera Tec (ceramic oil additive, reduced friction)
  • Motul — Engine Clean internal engine cleaner before oil change, Power System Diesel for diesel injectors.
  • Wynns — references Diesel EGR Cleaner, Petrol System Cleaner, Stop Smoke (exhaust smoke from worn engine)
  • AIC, Air Filter — specialized antifreeze additives, FAP/DPF cleaning

Additives by type of problem

Engine losing compression / high oil consumption: sealing additives for rings (Liqui Moly Motor Oil Saver, Wynn´s Stop Smoke). Temporary solution until mechanical repair. Dirty diesel injectors: Diesel Purge / Diesel System Cleaner every 10,000 km. Saturated FAP/DPF: diesel particulate filter regenerator additive (Wynn´s DPF Cleaner) if passive regeneration is not working. Dirty EGRWynn´s EGR Cleaner spray + fuel additive option Heavy gear boxgear oil additive (Liqui Moly Gear Oil Additive)

Coolant additives

Antifreeze: G11 (blue, OAT-free), G12/G12+ (pink, OAT), G13 (purple, OAT with glycerin). NEVER mix colors; the result may generate gel and clog the radiator. Antioxidant for coolantanti-corrosion and anti-cavitation additive Radiador leak seal: emergency solution until reaching the workshop (Bar´s Leaks type). Technical data according to ASTM D3306, BS 6580, and VW TL 774 standards.
