Selle Italia''s great adventure began in a small town called Corsico, outside of Milan in 1897. Selle Italia was founded to create saddles for everyday use. Back then, cars were out of reach for most, and the bicycle was the most common mode of transportation.
By the late 1970s, the automobile had replaced the bicycle as a mode of transportation, and the bicycle became more for sports use than anything else.
