TOKEN was founded in Taichung, Taiwan in 2002 by James Chang, but started many years before. James'' experience as a mechanical engineer saw him involved with some of the biggest cycling brands we know today. It is around this time that he acquired a vast knowledge base and skill set about producing bicycle parts and building complete bicycles. James'' 27 years of experience working closely with the leaders of the cycling industry showed him that precision is key to making products that enhance and benefit the rider. This experience gave him the confidence to start his own brand that represented what he believed in: Passion, Innovation and Craftsmanship.

Initially it was dedicated to the production of high-end headsets, bottom brackets and high-precision bearings.
