The cranksets are made of special steel for the highest mechanical resistance at high temperatures. The highly stressed parts of the connecting rod are hardened in a highly technical process to give them greater strength.

The connecting rod bearing surfaces are mirror-smooth. The surfaces are manufactured on precision machines. Irregularities can only be detected under the microscope.
