Pro Series Throttle Rod

RFX Pro Series Throttle Rods are machined from billet aluminum and feature a sealed bearing and Teflon sleeve to provide effortless throttle action. RFX Pro Series shafts resist crash damage unlike standard plastic shafts. For these reasons they are used by many of the top racing teams and riders in UK championships such as STR KTM.

Assembly instructions

Slide the rubber boot down and remove the throttle housing, remove the old throttle rod being careful not to damage the throttle cables.

Carefully remove the grip from the old throttle rod if necessary.

Inspect cables and housing for damage or excessive wear, clean and lubricate or replace if necessary.

Clean the handlebar and inspect for damage where the old throttle stem has been spinning on the bar. If there is a ridge, replace the handlebar.

Slide the new throttle stem onto the handlebars and lubricate with a penetrating lubricant, preferably Maxima MPPL (do not use grease as it attracts dirt and causes the throttle to stick after a short time).

Reassemble the throttle cables and housing using a little bit of penetrating lubricant.

Tighten the throttle housing in the correct position on the handlebar.

Adjust the cable with the necessary slack to your liking.

Rotate the handlebar to its maximum position to check that the throttle works properly and that the cable runs correctly. Some readjustment of the cable may be necessary.

Slide the rubber boot back over the casing.

Cover the hole in the end of the grip with some electrical tape (to prevent glue from getting into the throttle barrel) and apply a small amount of RFX Grip Glue to the outer end of the throttle stem on the outside diameter.

Apply a small amount of RFX Grip Glue to the inside of the new grip and slide it onto the shaft.

Rotate the cuff to the correct position and let it dry.

Apply the RFX cuff safety cable if necessary.

After the glue has dried, check again that the throttle works properly.
