Each belt is precisely matched to a specific vehicle and gear ratio. Therefore, rely on the belt designation provided by the manufacturer or distributor. Technical explanation: When selecting a variomatic drive belt, not only the width × length matters, but also
- the angle of the belt profile
- the thickness (height of the strap)
- the height and shape of the teeth
Even small differences can be crucial. For example, two belts might have the same length and width but differ in angle by 4 degrees. These belts are incompatible because they don't fit together perfectly. This leads to increased wear, power loss, and impaired performance.

- Outer length - measured around the outer circumference of the strap
- Reference or center line - measured approximately at the center of the belt thickness
