Vertex was born in 1953 as a spare parts workshop for agricultural engines and pumps.
During 1972, Vertex turned to a German piston company for help, who provided knowledge and technical assistance. This allowed to improve internal capabilities in materials, heat treatments and shape profiles.
Vertex then became a supplier of pistons to major European go-kart, scooter and motorcycle companies and its market share rapidly improved.
In 1994, a Yamaha bike equipped with a Vertex piston won the 125cc World Motocross Championship. This was the first in a long series of World Championship victories for factory teams using Vertex pistons.
