The aim of development is to improve braking performance compared to the original brake disc. EBC uses low carbon HPSR steel, which has an 18% higher coefficient of friction. This steel is much more resistant to rust than cast steel. In addition, the entire surface is protected with a 3 micron thick layer of zinc, which wears off in the contact zone of the brake pads already during braking. Only in this area can slight oxidation form after a long period of use.
The brake discs are drilled in a birdcage pattern to achieve as few holes as possible while optimizing the cleaning of the brake disc from rainwater and brake dust. The fewer holes there are, the better the performance of the brakes in the wet and the less wear.
- Rigid brake disc.
- Made of HPSR laminated steel with low carbon content.
- Braking surface drilled with an optimized hole pattern.
