The aim of the development is to improve the braking performance compared to the original brake disc. EBC uses low carbon HPSR steel, which has an 18% higher coefficient of friction. This steel is much more resistant to rust than cast steel. In addition, the entire surface is protected by a 3 micron thick layer of zinc, which erodes in the area of the contact patch of the brake pads during braking. Only in this area can the form more easily oxidize during the long life.
The brake discs are perforated in Vogelschwingendesign to fit with as few holes as possible while optimizing the cleaning of the brake disc from rainwater and brake dust. The fewer holes installed, the better the wet braking performance and the less wear.
- Rigid brake disc.
