The aim of the development is to improve the braking performance compared to the original brake disc. EBC uses low carbon HPSR steel with an 18% higher coefficient of friction. This steel is much more resistant to rust than cast steel. In addition, the entire surface is protected by a 3 micron thick layer of zinc, which wears off in the area of the contact patch of the brake pads during braking. Only in this area can rust form more easily during extended life.
The brake discs are drilled in Vogelschwingendesign to get along with as few holes as possible while optimizing the cleaning of the brake disc with rainwater and brake dust. The fewer holes installed, the better wet braking and less wear.
- Brake ring machined in low carbon HPSR forged steel.
- Therefore, there is no distortion of the brake disc even at maximum load.
- Without vitrification of the braking surface, the coefficient of friction remains constant.
- perforated brake surface with optimized hole pattern.
- Galvanized for protection against corrosion.
- Lower manufacturing tolerances.
- EBC recommends EBC Double-H Sinter brake pads for best braking performance.
