The steering damper is a key part to prevent losing control of the motorcycle while riding.
It is made up of a cylinder with oil inside and a piston with holes. The piston moves from side to side when steering, and what the oil does is slow down its movement.

Steering dampers are especially recommended for sports and trial bikes, where steering control is very important.
