Lead-acid batteries are secondary batteries, meaning that they can be charged after discharging.
Primary batteries can only be discharged once and then must be discarded.
Yuasa batteries leave the factory in two ways:
- With Factory Reset (FA): the battery is filled with electrolyte, sealed and charged at the factory. These batteries should be used for a limited time and should not be stored indefinitely.
- Other batteries are shipped dry and can be AGM batteries or regular batteries. These batteries are sometimes called supply bottles (BS) because they are shipped with the electrolyte in plastic containers. The battery is recharged with the electrolyte in the tank when it is ready to be activated. Once opened, the battery must be activated, charged, and installed. Bare plates will start to rust, making it difficult to charge the battery later.
